Back to business

Apparently we have some double standards from our captain. Over Christmas I was banned from training to make sure I got some rest and recovered properly, so I took six weeks off. Now, I sensibly take just two weeks off over Easter and I get moaned at. Constantly.

So, training for week beginning 31/3/08:

31/3 - 15k @18 2:02.3 splits. I was so keen to do an erg I did it before I'd had chance to go and buy some food for breakfast. Also weights in the evening. See comments for details.
1/4 - (am, but post-breakfast) 15k @18 1:59.7 splits.
2/4 - 30' @20 8,017m (1:52.2 splits). PB for rate-capped, about 50m short of all-time PB.
3/4 - 15k @18 2:02.8 splits. Slightly slower as less than 12 hours after the 30' erg.
4/4 - 15k with a twist. With Braithwaite, alternated naming a burst at each km to go. Average stroke rate 19, split naturally a little lower at 1:57.8.
5/4 - Outing in 2x with Rebecca (my sister). Three reaches, no banks hit.
6/4 - Just some speed work - 2 lots of 700m or so, working to settle into a good rhythm at 1:41s. Longer erg not possible due to my and the erg room's availability.

By the way Benson, good effort on the 2k. Richard, when are you going to start pimping your erg scores? A real street 2k is about 6:40...

Unfortunately Richard is not street.

Even more unfortunately (for him is), while a good street erg is 6:40, a good erg for a 6'6" bloke who lives in a big house near the Thames is the sub 6:10 erg that Toby Garnet pulls.
