Snowed off

Due to a rather annoying illness and an inability to go anywhere on the bike without risking serious injury I have not been able to get to the gym this week. In addition, my planned training of playing two rounds of golf has, unsurprisingly, not been possible.

However, one update left over from before Christmas:

24/12 - 40 minute erg - 9,923m. Paced it slightly better than last time but still think I can do a 10km one if I can limit myself for the first 10 minutes or so.

I also watched the Everton v. Liverpool (mis)match but not from the pub but from the floor of my living room trying to do the spherical puzzle of the globe which my sister got me for Christmas. You'd be surprised how difficult it was - not putting the pieces in but making them stay there. That's the limit of my post-Christmas training - balance!

Happy New Year

Still need a haircut

Training so far this week:

Fri: 30', 7325m, 2:02.9 at 21.
Mon: Fuelled by turkey and sausage cakes from Boxing Day dinner, I did 40' rating 21, 9759m - 2:03.0.
Wed: Did 60' at 2:05.8 rating 21. Harder than I expected, my average HR was 171!

It's been snowing loads up here so no chance of going on the river, or going running/cycling, so I'll have to stick to the ergo for the time being. Been reading It's not about the bike so that's inspired me to do more training!

Here I am in action yesterday. Notice I still need a haircut and my power-source on the right hand side.
Posted by Picasa

Some stuff I did before Christmas

Mon: Sculling, lock and back
Tues: Sculling, lock plus reach
Weds: Sculling, lock and back

Since then I haven't really done much as I have been a home enjoying Christmas. Therefore this weeks training has so far been:

Mon: Pub
Tues: Pub
Weds: Pub plus football match (Everton-Liverpool in the pub)

However I will be back in Cambridge on Friday and will then rapidly shed any Christmas weight and will become lean and mean, so you had better watch out!

Also - what does the 'A' stand for?

I've got Chester-Le-Street A***** Rowing Club. I looked into joining the local club but it is very expensive, the river water is dirtier than the Cam and the boathouse looks a bit like what that guy did to win the Turner Prize recently.

And also I haven't got a brother who would be willing to make up a two - so if anyone is a member of a decent club in Kent then let me know!

Three weeks without rowing

I know how you feel Mark. I got back home looking forward to seeing everyone at my tennis club. I went last Saturday and found out that the courts we are using close from about now until early January, which means I won't be able to play again this holiday.

By the way - is everything OK for us guys in Keynes for rowing week - I e-mailled John Buckley to ask but haven't had a response yet. I'm coming up on the 7th anyway - even if I have to kip somewhere like the TV room!

The week so far

Mon: Did 10km in 40'43.8" (2'02.2"), rating 22.
Wed: 2*30', 2:03.6 and 2:03.9 rating 21 and 22.
Thu: 10' warm up then a 19' pyramid average pace 1:59.8, then 20' at 23, pace 2:01.7.

Probably no sculling or rowing this week as CLSARC is closed over Christmas and New Year, which means my next row will be whne I'm back in Cambridge. Three weeks without rowing, what shall I do!?

Training since last week

I don't like the sound of 210 press-ups and sit-ups per day, whichever way I look at it! However, I have done one or two things over the last 7 days which aren't quite as painful:

16/12 - 5km erg of 19:44.2 plus weights (a combination of pec deck, shoulder press, chest press, leg curls, bicep curls, tricep thingies, calf raises depending on how I feel, how much time I have etc.).
17/12 - Cycled to and from tennis (20 mins each way + 2hrs of tennis).
19/12 - 30 min erg - 7540m, 22s/m plus weights. Managed to do 5 6min splits of over 1500m, so paced myself well for once.
20/12 - Hour or two playing football with friends so can claim useful exercise for leg muscles.
21/12 - Played golf - it's a hilly course and quite a long way to carry my bag - especially the route I take round the course!
22/12 - Cycled to and from the gym - 2*20min erg with 2 min rest - 5,006m @22 and 5010m @23 plus weights for 20mins or so.

Merry Christmas everyone.

A better week

Having recovered from illness I managed a little more this week:

Mon: Sculling- to the lock and back
Tues: Erg- 10k, rate 21, split 1.55.2 (slides)
Weds: Was gong to erg but felt in need of a stretch, so I wamed up with 2k, rate 23, split 1.51.3 (slides). In the evening i did weights, see comment.
Thurs: Sculling- lock and additional reach.
Fri: Nothing, was snowed under in the lab.
Sat: Sculling- lock and back (at a fairly swift pace)
Sun: Weights (see comment) and erg 10k, rate 20, split 1.55.8 (fixed)

The sculling in particular has been really nice as the weather has been nice and clear, the water flat and the river very quiet. After getting past the P+E on Saturday I only saw one other boat for the whole outing.

More training

15/12 - 40' 2:03.4, 9727m rating 21.
17/12 - 2*20' rating 22, 4892m and 4940m.
18/12 - 12km in a pair with my brother.

training

hey, been on the varsity trip this week so 6 days of pretty solid skiing has been my training this week, no idea if that is any good for rowing fitness. i can't afford the gym prices around here (essentially i pay 70 quid just to join) but my mum's bf is thinking of getting a concept 2 (yes, he's loaded) and i'm gonna lean on him til he does! until then cycling and some other stuff will have to do, i'm gonma try and do a twenty to one every day (20 press ups, 20 sit ups, 20 burpees, 19 press ups, 19 .... down to 1) and some cycling, perhaps be religiously lazy on sundays. let me know if there's something better i could be doing!

Training at home

For those interested, my latest efforts to get/keep fit have been as follows:

4/12 - 30 minute cycle ride including Dargets Hill (350m @ 15%).
5/12 - Gym induction.
7/12 - 5km erg in 19:57 including cycling there and back (15-20 minutes each way).
9/12 - 30 minute erg of 7,528m plus various weights.
12/12 - 3*2km erg with 2 minute rest periods - 7:49, 7:53 and 7:52. Weights afterwards.
14/12 - 40 minute erg, stroke rate 22, of 9,863m (particularly bad effort for pacing myself). Cycled each way.

Off to watch England lose another cricket match and get some reading done. Hopefully will have some more updates early next week.

Training since I got home

Hello; ergo update number one:
  • Monday: 40' at rate 20, 9683m or 2:03.9
  • Tuesday: back sore off yesterday so didn't erg. I think not being used to erging minus sliders or leaning too far back are the possible causes.
  • Today: 2*20' at rate 22, 2:02.7 for each one.
Let's get blogging people!

Training Week Beginning 5/12/05

I was somewhat ill after Fairbairns and so my training has been a bit slack. However I have managed:

Mon: Weights at Fenners
Fri: Outing in 4+
Sun: Weights at fenners plus 10k, rate 20, split 1.54.7 at fenners after weights.

I have included details of the weights sessions as comments to the post as otherwise it would take up too much room.

The week so far

Circuits as mentioned on Monday, outing in the four on Tuesday morning, then I've just done 3*10' rate 22/23. Did the first one feet out.

Currently, there are three of us on the Concept 2 logbook under King's College, Cmabridge: me, Tom K, Nick and a random dude Alan who is beating us all. Currently, we're 291st, the fourth Cambridge college behind Clare, Wolfson and Christ's. Surely we need to beat this and get in the top 200! Sign up guys and do some erging!

Monday, October 10, 2005

Circuits

Me, Tom K, Andy and Peter - a novice - made it to circuits tonight. Where were the rest of you!? :-D

Wednesday at 7pm is the other session, that is if you are not erging instead.

Reminder: Tuesday and Friday for the eight this week, meeting 6:40 am at the bh.

Cheers!

40'

Did 9826m, rate 22. My HRM was working throughout and recorded a mean of about 163 I guess (it didn't get above 160 until about 18-20 mins in), but now it's gone nuts and won't let me access any of the data - it's just blank. I hope this isn't permanent or Polar will be getting it!

3*10'

Inaugurated the new ergos with three ten minute intervals with four minutes rest in between. Average pace was 1:57.8 rating 25, giving a total of 7640m. Average HR 171, max HR 188.

Shame Navy (or should that be lazy) Matt didn't join me; it's lonely down there with two empty ergos beside you. Liquid Tension Experiment did keep me going though.

Add the above session to the six outings I've had this week (3*M2, 2*M1, 1*M3) and circuits on Monday and you've got my training for the week. Now I think I'll do some revision...

More Bang for Your Buck!

My thirty minutes today, 7701m but only R22. Focussed on low shoulders, separation (most likely the source of low rate) and the pick up on the drive. My lats hurt so it all works...

Also been for a bit of a spin but that was more quiet-time than training.

Training

This week I have been mostly doing training. Here it is:

Monday - Circuits
Tuesday - Outing with M2
Wednesday - Circuits again
Thursday - Outing with M2 and an erg this afternoon. Did 15 minutes warm up/coold down with 40'/9700m in between.

Will do the 30' piece tomorrow.

Cheers.

Blog and training update

Since Chris cannot find Andy's site url, I've added it to the blog links list at right. Hope that helps.

I've been to circuits, been rowing in M2 and M1 occasionally, and rowed with Homerton in a mega outing over the lock on Monday evening.

Cheers.

Because I can't find the address of Andy's thing

Since I last posted I have done the following:

Some cycling with Dave
Weights at Fenners (16/5/05)
An outing with M2 (painful)
An outing with Sidney M1 (not as painful)

Some ergs:
5k in 18:50 including 2k in 7:07 rate 21 while demonstrating stuff to M2
4/5/05 11948m rate 20 split 1.53.5
11/5/05 13k rate 21 split 1.55.6

No ergs for a change!

For a change I have been mainly on the water recently:

Saturday- 8 outing, pretty good, worked all concerned reasonably hard, bit of power water work and so on.

Sunday- Bike ride, hour and a half at 17.5 mph. Pleasant morning but initially cold. This led to Dave wearing about 5 layers and then dehydrating.

Monday- 8 outing with Sidney Sussex. They aren't as good as us I am glad to report.

Tuesday- Pair with Andy. Having swapped seats the debate about who is the worst steerer is going strong. The current feeling is that while I nearly crash more, I do take corners better. Although I also make more of a difference when I turn round. We are swapping again tomorrow....

Sunday, April 17, 2005

Bike ride

Been feeling ill the last few days so not much training. I attempted 10km last night on the ergo but had to stop after 3km, felt rubbish, nothing at all in my legs.

Anyway, to stop the "no training" trend, I decided to cycle to Consett. In all I was on the bike for three hours there and back, no mileage data as I haven't got a speedo but my average HR was 160.

Back on the ergo tomorrow I think, see if I can do 10km.

Thursday, April 14, 2005

I don't like running (and 4 million regressions sounds a long way)

Right, as other people have been doing some training posting I though I would update people.

Saturday- Spent all morning cutting a substantial hedge with hand shears. If you don't think this counts as training you should try it, my forearms were killing me by the end. In the afternoon we had an 8 out on the river for a pleasant paddle.

Sunday- Day off cos I was feeling lazy.

Monday- Outing with Andy in the pair, firm pressure was interesting, we discovered new directions that pairs could travel, mainly sideways

Tuesday- 10k 1.55.4 rate 20

Wednesday- Outing with Andy in the pair, 100% crash avoidance would probably be helped by me not trying to steer by occaisionally stopping rowing....

Thursday- 10k 1.59.3 rate 22. The first 10 mins of this was technique stuff, so about the last half hour was more like rate 20-21, split approx 1.53

'I Just Ran Four Million Regressions'

Nursing a slight cold at the moment but: -

Been out on the bike three times, 1hr-ish, around 17.5MPH. Cycling at 11PM has also revealed itself as quite entertaining.

6840m/2:00.0/R22. Not the fastest that has been done (by me), not enough sleep on the other hand.

2x

Been out in the double with my brother this evening for about an hour or so before it started getting dark. All of my sculling blisters have returned while my rowing ones subside; it'l be a painful start next term!

Today's events

After watching worthy champion Tiger claim his fourth green jacket this morning, I retired to bed at about 0100 hours.

This afternoon I had a nice bike ride to Beamish and back, then I did two 5k's on the ergometer after "Fifth Gear". Both completed in 20 mins wih HR at about 170 I think, accompanied by Dream Theater for the second one.

Sunday, April 10, 2005

Been rowing

Not as windy this morning as it has been so we got out in a four, me at stroke of course! Was really good fun, did some exercises on balance and the catch to get the boat moving better and then spent an hour just rowing up and down. Was fast and really well balanced - best outing I've done in a four in ages!

My Masters prediction: I meant to say this on Friday night after the first round but Tiger Woods is going to win. He's hitting his irons like an absolute God, super round the greens, but just needs to control the big dog. Should be a great fourth round!

Death Spirals!

Been trying to finish my contribution to the field of macroeconomics but: -

3x standard 1hr rides

1x ergo, 10' 1:55.6 R25, 10' 1:53.1 R28, half dozen race starts (approx 450m): lowest split generally at 1:34.0, seeking settle at 1:41.0 at R32 or R36 (both happened, not necessarily a plan as yet).

Broke turkey ban with a superb fillet steak at Varsity last night, highly recommended. Back to it tonight though, plus have been buying enough bran flakes to last until July.

Final advice: listen to Cavalleria Rusticana, particularly 'Intermezzo', or Faure, Requiem. Perhaps not while erging though.

DcL

Wind and rain

Really windy the last few days so unfortunately I haven't got out on the river. Plenty of rain at Augusta as well so while I wait for the golf to resume, I went on the ergo. Did the usual warm up then 10km. The baseball cap was requred for the first twenty minutes as sun was streaming through the window, but I completed a comfortable row with a sprint for the finish with 1000m to go, finishing in 40:39 (yes I know it's not very fast Andy...!).

Weighed myself the other morning and I'm 65kg. Therefore, any ideas of how to put on 5kg in muscle? There is the Matt method, but as partial as I am to pork pies and an apple turnover, there must be another way? Are lots of squats, lunges and press ups the order of the day?

Hope you like all the new links.

Further training

Tuesday- Pair with Pavel, went quite well. Saw a certain Mr de Mauny out jogging (well walking, I guessed he might have been jogging and some point) with his girlfriend.

Wednesday- 15k 1.56.2 at rate 21

Thursday- 2*5k 1.49.7 at rate 24 and 1.49.8 at rate 24

Today- 10k 1.55.6 at rate 21

Sessions to try

From concept2.com and ergo newsletters:

  • a continuous piece which consists of 5 to 8 repetitions of (3 minutes, 2 minutes, and 1 minute, as follows. Row 3 minutes @ a low stroke rate of 22 spm (strokes per minute); then 2 minutes at a moderate stroke rate of 27 spm; then 1 minute at a high stroke rate of 32 spm. Then repeat. There is no rest between these pieces;
  • Four 1000-meter pieces with 3-4 minutes rest, at about the pace you might row a 2000 meter race.
  • Six 500-meter pieces with 3-4 minutes rest, at a pace 2-3 seconds faster than your pace for the 1000 meter pieces.
  • One we did last year that Matt Pinsent recommends: 30', all out but at MAX rate of 20. MP can get over 9000m, over 8000m at altitude.
You could also try Eskild Ebbesen's "Hour of Power" - try to beat his world record 18007 m! That's a split of 1:40!

More erging

Been on the ergo twice more: 40' yesterday and 2*20' today, about 10km total for both plus 2km warm up and cool down.

That's it.
You are all sadists. My intentions have been outstanding, my achievements less so. My right arm has had a great deal of exercise though.

Managed a football match, several lengthy fights with my younger brothers, 2 6 mile cycle rides on dilapidated old bikes and thats about it. On a mountain leader course next week though so ill be hiking up mountains with a heavy bag all week

Eating has been progressing well, we have overhang on the belt now!!

Oh and for you dirty bastards who leapt to conclusions about my right arm - shame on you! Ive been painting ceilings!!

Back on the water

On Saturday we manged to get and eight out and go for a paddle. Was rather successful if I do say so myself (as organiser and stroke...).

Sunday myself and Dave went for a cycle. Usual 25 mile route at a pace of about 17.8mph (faster than we normally do).

This morning I did 8k on the erg. After 1K warm up I did intervals of 300m at rate 24-5 (split about 1:49), 200m at rate 30 (split 1:40) and then 500m rest at rate 20 (split about 2:04). Overall average of 1:54.8.

More sculling

No pair when we got there this morning so while my brother went out in a scull, I did 5km on the ergo then did 45 mins in the scull when Graeme had finished. Lovely morning for a row, sunny and flat so the shades came out for the first of hopefully many appearances.

"Last Night, She Said..."

Three things: -

My study light keeps blowing - the crappy fixture doesn't hold the bulb securely enough so it keeps on falling out. When I put it back in, it blows. I've signed for three light bulbs at P'Lodge in three days... Arghhhhh!

1x 40' R22 2:01.1

Bran Flakes at Sainsbury's: - they now have 750g size packets and they are... wait for it... £2.50 for 2!!!!!!!!!!!

All Turkey Diet

Hmmm, not being of the Smug Grad ilk, I have been working on my contribution to the field of macroeconomics (ok, so his is probably due a bit later than mine) and it seems I haven't done enough training of late...

3x usual hour rides
1x 6840m at 1:58.0 R25

More tonight. Been maintaining interest in my all turkey diet too though eating out (the hallmark of exam season) is proving quite tempting most days.

Sculling - minus creme eggs

Went out in a scull yesterday. Could only manage half an hour as my brother had it for an hour before me and then it was getting dark. Good fun though, not bad after a year without sculling.

Tescos this morning - Nestle double chocolate mini eggs were 62p per pack. BARGAIN

Ergo tomorrow morning I think, then 2- on Sunday. Have a good weekend.

I have creme eggs as well

Though I have been training so that I don't make myself fat.

Monday: about 1.5 hours cycling at about 18mph
Tuesday: Coming back to Cambridge, lots of carrying of bike and bags.
Wednesday: 10k 1.55.9
Thursday: Pressups etc
Friday (today): 12k 1.56.4

Creme Eggs

There's no ergos anywhere near me at the moment but soon I'm gonna go "up north" to milton keynes where I can actually row. For the time being, I've discovered it only takes 40 minutes to cycle from Lewes the Brighton, so I do that and back about 4 times a week.

Creme eggs were on special at tescos yesterday. Half price. There's 15 of them lined up in front of me now.

Yep, I've been on the ergo again. This time, two half hours, each in 2:04.0 split for 7255m each. Playing golf tomorrow so might not have time to go on the ergo, but there may be some pictures!

More rowing

Did 2*20', 2:01.8 average split. Takes me to 2.25 million metres ever. Think I'll settle down to watch the boat race now while I digest some lunch.

Let's see some more posts on here soon!

"I Become A Happier Man Each Time I Suffer..."

Like Big Al from 'Happy Days' would say, "Ah, yep, yep, yep..." *

So, three outings with Doreen, two around 17MPH for an hour, one very fast hour nearer 19.

200 sit-ups, 100 of those press up things Braithwaite's always on about, 20' 1:59.6 R22, 10' 1:57.0 R23 (got thrown out as the Porter came round for the lockdown).

One IV+ outing and some punting too.

Also been pretending to be a veggie for the last four days.

P.S. I now also have a cointegrating VECM in logs and levels... hehehe...

Henley disappointments

Both the crews with King's people in lost at the Henley races today, only CUW blue boat actually won. Oh well there is always tomorrow.

Due to lack of ergs at home I have mainly been cycling this week. Roughly 20 miles at about 17mph on weds, thurs and today.

Eased my const-erg-pation

Back from Toulouse so got on the ergo again today. A measly 9678m in 40' with a warm up and cool down. Hopefully my erging will be supplemented by some stuff on the water soon.

For all those who can get on an ergo, please log your training here as well:

Still training, are you?

Went for a scull on Tuesday afternoon in the clinker. Discovered that I was fast enough (at 13:33 for 2.6k) to win second trinity challenge sculls. Beat some people as can be seen here: http://www.firstandthird.org/tables/stcs/result.shtml

This morning myself and Dave went for a leisurely cycle at an average of about 16.4 mph. Apparently it was about 17.5 before we spent the last 2 miles crawling through traffic and pulling some rather illegal manouvers that annoyed the motorists no end...

Circuits

Tom and I went to Fennes for an hour of circuits this evening.

Monday, March 14, 2005

This evening

Went to circuits for an hour at 6pm - very good, well attended, just not by M1...

Then had a massage by Tom's Uncle. Both quads and calves contain little knots but Ron (?) did his stuff. Really good - highly recommended.

Some training wot I have done

As well as sit ups and press ups I have done the following:

10K at 1.58.4 (Rate 20)
10K at 1.55.9 (Rate 20)
Cycling for about an hour on Sunday morning.

In order to avoid wasting away with all this hard work I had 2 roast dinners yesterday. I started at lunch with 3 courses (if you include the cheese), an excellent roast sirloin. I then had a slight break before formal at John's in the evening. I can recommend their roast pork as succulent and tasty. The pudding at both meals was exemplary.

While On The South Coast...

The morning after the night before... slightly dodgy flywheel on hotel gym erg so it felt soft at the catch (or maybe that was last night too...), but 2x 20' UT1 R22 1:58.0 / 1:58.1, 200 sit ups, half hour core strength.

More indoor rowing

40' UT1 - 9722m at rate 22.

Outing tomorrow, 6:30am at the boathouse, then circuits in the evening, 6pm at Fenners.

Friday, March 11, 2005

"Cha-Cha-Cha!"

And so, back on the machine again. 40min UT2- R22 2:01.0, 200 sit ups & core strength. Nice and easy on the joints lest I find SAGA calling to offer health cover. You do get a free Parker pen though. Visiting favoured American physio next week...

Watched the first half of The Bourne Identity: reminded me of a Wednesday I had a few weeks ago.

Nothing of note at Sainsbury's (pray tell if anyone sees anything worthy of comment) except for perhaps the truly ghastly sight of the supervisor bloke wearing fishnets and a nurses outfit "because it was Comic Relief". Once recovered from such traumatic imagery, turkey steak for dinner (again).

I break myself in

You'll all be glad to know that i broke myself in gently earlier - on the erg. My 9 month drought was broken with a gentle 30min erg rate capped at 22. Averaged 1.55.9 over 7768m.

Have also played a Rugby match this week and done my best to regain the lost pounds by eating copious quantities of fat filled food.

Return of the ergo

Been on ergo, 2*20' each one about 4900m. Still on the mend from a cold so hopefully I'll improve a lot on this.

Replenished energy stocks with a trip to Sainsbury's. Tempted by the Party Rings again but avoided them for five double choc cookies - very reasonable at £1 - and two slabs of Nestle Double Cream chocolate, also on offer. Dismayed at the lack of Bourbon Biscuits though.

Outing tomorrow, 13:50 for 14:10 push off. Those who owe race fees please bring a cheque book.

Cheers.

Party Rings Shortage Shocker!

Dismay as I find no stocks of Party Rings in Sainsbury's. Happily obtained the requisite stocks of Bran Flakes however: seems the lightweights have all made weight by now.

Anyway, now that less of my body is in dull pain/tiredness, knee trouble is again discernible. Went on a bike ride in light of this, 1hr at 16.1MPH (urban circuits) with some sprint stuff to terrorise pedestrians down King's Parade. Good-O

Probably going to subscribe to Mr. Braithwaite's beach weights programme (i.e. I am sufficiently heavy to act as the aforementioned weights) - though did have a delightful slice of apple pie at Afternoon Tea. Highly recommended.

Circuits

Tom and I graced Fenners this evening for some circuit action.

See you tomorrow at 6:30am for hopefully another quiet outing.

Cheers.

Monday, March 07, 2005

I have started the beach weights in earnest. Am going for lots of reps, just whenever i have time during the day. eg one day 200 sit ups the next 200 pressups, and so on. Hopefully i will be well ripped by mays (Sadly this has fallen down on day 2 as i don't feel like doing the sit ups due to a bang on the back playing rugby).

That is provided they take away the 2 for £1 offer on Party Rings (biscuits).

Today i did 10k on the erg at 1:54.9. Then i played rugby this afternoon.

Distressing circumstances

Woe is me! Woe is me!

Due to excessive exertion over the last week both on the river and in climbing into toilet cubicles last night it appears that all my pie eating has been for nought. A brief foray into the bathroom earlier revealed a weight loss of no less than 5 pounds over the least week!

I blame the light lunches in an effort to control the vom. Bring on the carveries!

Last Week

I played rugby as extra training on Thursday, and happily avoided death or maiming.

As for food yesterday. I did have a large roast dinner, a number of cakes/biscuits/etc, a Malaysian dinner for my evening meal, cheese toastie and i think something else i am forgetting.

I have already had 4 bakewell tarts after this mornings outing (oh and some biscuits, plus i had breakfast beforehand naturally).

Pie eating is the key to success

Spent the day eating excessively in order to build up energy stocks for the potentially tortuous week ahead - roast dinner and 3 desserts set the scene followed by much cheese and in the region of 6 cream cakes for tea. Beat that Braithwaite! Training in between meals included a 'power building' nap mid afternoon.

The Sunday Ride

One horseman short of an apocalypse: Dave & Messrs Barber & Braithwaite. Lovely scenery out Toft way; but rather short excursion (1 hr, about 15MPH) due to Dave feeling like some inexplicable vom-action. Oh Dear... (And I haven't been drinking, especially not last night)

Body flogging this week

Only managed a rather paltry circuits and Rugby match in addition to the outings this week. this was due to my battered state after last weekends activities.

New Knees Please - 26.02.05 - Dave

Ever the best idea...

6840m, 1:58.0 at R22

Apparently sleep-talked a conversation with Mark last night where I was told the outing was off...

Tom ave HR 147 bpm for 44mins

in other news: malt loaf is now 2 for 1 at Sainbury's, it must be bumps time!

Monday, February 21, 2005

Training - 21.02.05 - Dave

2x 15' (4' rest) R24 / 1:56.0, 1:58.0

No third, would prefer not to have knee surgery any time soon.

Circuits

MH and SammyJ of M2 at circuits; no-one else apart from the Twigg making a rare appearance. Attached is the HR graph from the session. Posted by Hello

Work

I did a 40min on tues, 30min on thurs and a 40min on sun.
Yo

Weekend training

Saturday - 2 games of Rugby 7s, 2 games of hockey
Sunday - 2 games of Rugby 7s

Training last week

Other than the cycling that Dave mentioned, on the non rowing days last week I did the following:

Tuesday: Rugby Match
Thursday: 40 min erg, severely inturrupted by CdM ringing me to moan about M2
Saturday: Rugby Match

Sunday, February 20, 2005

Training - 20.02.05 - CB & Dave

Mr. Braithwaite and Dave, The Sunday Ride

1hr35, 25.33 miles at average 15.9MPH. Probably less than UT2...

Interesting conversation as usual, clicking noises from both bikes; snowed on the last half hour or so. Sillyness at the Trinity May Ball queue on Sidgwick.
