Well, a late update, due to the fact I was rather late in doing my erg test, and in the end it was a rather un-impressive 19:04, which by my reckoning empowers Paul to set any test he so desires (unless anyone can post a better score before he sets it)
I got back to my old rowing club and have had 4 outings in the past week, an 8+, a 4+ and two 2x outings, one of which I had to steer and almost crashed into a bridge the arch of which was probably 4 times the width of the Cam, I'm not sure I'll be allowed to do that again. Anyway, it's good training and they have a couple of great coaches who, of all things, have said the drive phase I learnt at King's is categorically wrong, would encourage more people to join a club where possible.
