The rest of my week went as follows:
Day 2. Went well off the start and held the crew behind comfortably for 350m. Then we hit wash going into 1st post corner and got bumped halfway down the gut. I have never really experienced such a fade in speed from any crew, and it was basically all due to poor technique when it got rough. Shame as it meant being bumped by a boat I think we were better than.
Day 3. We rowed over in some style, not as good as Peterhouse in Mays, but pretty good. There was then some mix up as to where the finish was (mainly my fault as I assumed that the beer tree was after the finish and the Georgina wouldn't be on the course) and we technically got bumped. Luckily they didn't claim their bump and we got away with it.
Day 4. We were just getting going (the boats either side up us sprinted off the start but were both beginning to fade) when the division was stopped owing to a cox being in the water after a bump higher in the division. There was no re-row so the race was something of an anti-climax.
